Here’s what we’ve been up to this week:
We started our week dancing in a fountain. Which is awesome.
Especially when it’s not planned.
We attended the local National Night Out and Mayhem got to check out the inside of an ambulance. I keep warning her to stop jumping off the couch or she’s going to get to take a ride in one of these. I’m hoping the discomfort you see on her face means the idea isn’t all that appealing to her anymore.
And then there were the selfies….
For some reason, she’s been all about the selfies this week. It started on Tuesday when she opted for a selfie with one of the seniors we photographed at our studio. (If you want to follow along, we’ve decided to post Mayhem’s “selfies with seniors” over on our studio Instagram account.)
And a family selfie was requested as well 🙂
We’ve also spent hours on Cute Girls Hairstyles this week. Hours. We both have a mild obsession.
Each time I finish a hairstyle, she requests a pic so she can see it. Because, of course.
And then the week ended in the same dress it started in. I’m pretty sure it was clean. But I don’t sweat the small stuff ….
It’s CRAZY season at our studio, and between August 1 and August 15, we’ll photograph about a billion high school athletes. Or so it will seem.
That means all hands on deck. Including Mayhem. She’s excellent at yelling “Who’s up next?” and collecting order envelopes.
But that also means she gets to do cool stuff like hang out on the turf and perfect her end zone dance.
And take more selfies with seniors ….
It’s Saturday night and we’re exhausted.
Very happily exhausted 🙂
Some things:
1) Could she be any cuter? I mean, seriously. Every day, that kid’s personality flourishes even more (and we didn’t think that possible).
2) I love that she has no fear and is all, “you’re a senior boy? Let’s take a selfie together!” I mean, that absence of fear is going to take her far in life.
3) I can’t wait to take a selfie with Mayhem when I see you guys next month. (NEXT MONTH!!!!!)
She’ll be ALL about selfies with you! I’ll need to make sure to clear some space on the phone before our visit 😉
And I was a little surprised about her confidence in taking selfies with those guys, but truthfully, we have the BEST clients ever. EVER!!! The two guys featured in this post happened to be twins (but she took the pics on different days) and they were the absolute sweetest. They even showed her some cool lacrosse tricks and taught her how throw. She’s actually a really good judge of character and wouldn’t have gone near them if she had any sense they were “too good” to chat with a four year old.
Oh and 4) Can you do a fishtail on me??? I’ve always wanted to try it and while I can French braid up a storm, I have no idea how to do this.
Ummm, yes! This was my first ever attempt at a “french fishtail” and it’s easier than a french braid. I had no idea just how easy some of this stuff is, but I’m telling you, that site is GOLD. Mayhem will be happy to play with your hair to – she LOVES to do mine 😉
i adore this child! do you know how many years it took me to get the confidence to live fearlessly? i am loving her selfie series and cant wait to see what you guys are up to next! also can i say i really love how sweet the kids you are photographing seem to be with Mayhem. It is really heartwarming to see kids entering one of their most self involved years taking time to hang out with a curious 4 year old. it does this old chicks heart good. thanks for sharing your sweet girl with us.
Love her fearless attitude and adorableness!
I love that I have a selfie in the ‘selfies with Mayhem’ club 😉
What a great opportunity for her to help out in the family business!
Hi there!
First time visiting your site, although my 2 year old and I have long adored your IG! Where is that cute teal and white dress from. I’m sure my little lady would love to start and finish her week in it as well!!
Thanks!
