I’m going to let you in on a couple little secrets:
1 – I have a thing for subscriptions services. Truthfully. I think they can be a genius way to experience new products and be introduced to products I wouldn’t otherwise learn about. And I can usually do it without investing a ton of money.
2 – finding local treasures when we travel versus falling into the most “touristy” traps are a priority for us.
Imagine the near head explosion that happened when I learned about Hole In Wall Box. {insert mind blown emoji here} I was asked if I’d like to review this new subscription service which carefully curates the some of the best local and unique products from a particular city. And the best part … each box is from a new city. So while I received a box introducing me to the best of the best from San Diego in December, there’s a box full of Seattle goodness headed to subscribers in February (boxes go our every two months).
But back to this box chock full of San Diego goodies I received. I was excited to dig in, but I also had a plan to take the box on the road with us for the holidays and get a little feedback from Keith’s family. Full disclosure: I opened everything and sampled it on the eight hour drive. Which means by the time we arrived, some samples were in short supply. Case in point, these lime and sea salt roasted almonds:
Which were my hands downs favorite item in the box! And the smart folks over at Hole In Wall Box have made it super easy for me to get more as there’s an informational card included in the box with the details about each and every sample included and who makes it. Which means I can get more almonds right HERE 🙂
I even used Snapchat to post some real time reviews:
The True Gentlemen’s Jerky got RAVE reviews from the fam. Awesome flavor. Kinda spicy. Like throat melting spicy. In an enjoyable way.
I was excited that there were a couple of gluten free items in the box, since my sister-in-law has to avoid gluten, and she quickly laid claim to the chocolate.
And while the box was mostly food items, I love that they threw in a couple non-food items as well. That soap, btw, smelled good enough to eat!!!
I think the truest test, any time we get asked to review something, is if it’s something we’d spend our own money on. And I can tell you that Team Mayhem here, sent out Hole In Wall Box gift subscriptions over the holidays. Truth.
And when I mentioned that to my brother-in-law, he said he thinks subscriptions are the best type of gifts because it makes you think of the person who sent it each time a new delivery arrives. He said it’s more like giving 6 gifts per year than one. I think he’s right!
If you have a thing for travel (or someone in your life who does) I highly recommend giving Hole In Wall Box a look.
Special thanks to Hole In Wall Box for providing us with a San Diego box to review. As always, thoughts, opinions, and the decision to spend my own money with them, is my own 😉 Over and out.
My favorite thing ever was that caramel kettlecorn! Might just be ordering more of that deliciousness of my own.
Love all your photos! Can’t wait to get my Seattle box!
You should check out Kidpik! It’s a subscription box for girls and the clothes look so cool!
