Montana Is Open

Posted on June 25, 2015June 26, 2015 By Angie Keiser

Contrary to what many Montanans will tell you (we got more than a few “Montana is closed” comments before we ventured to Glacier Country Montana).

And it’s easy to see why they’d like to keep this for themselves…

But I can confirm that Montana is indeed open.

Wide open…

And as the fourth largest state (in terms of physical size) with a mere million people in population, there’s plenty of room for visitors.

It’s precisely what enticed us about Montana …

The still. The calm. The lack of cell phone service and wi-fi … (in some places).

And western Montana delivered. In spades.

Along with some adrenaline pumping views. Like the one above on the Going to the Sun road. Keith took that one while standing on the seat of our red bus (tour) while I clutched the seat and Mayhem for dear life. (Totally worth it for the views though!)

Massive thanks to Glacier Country Montana tourism for creating a perfect itinerary chock full of spectacular photo opportunities for us. MUCH more to come on our fantastic trip out west, but for now, we wanted to share some of our favorite views. Stay tuned …

Crazy beautiful. I really, really want to see this place. I told my husband and he said there may not be a lot to do there. I told him I just want to see it, look, look some more, and then some more, just take it all in. It is stunning. Thank you for sharing.

You will LOVE it if you decide to go!!! And we’ll be sharing much more about our trip, but just to address your husband’s concern …. we came back EXHAUSTED!!! There is SO much to do and we had a blast. Don’t get me wrong, you can go and just see the beautiful scenery and chill out if that’s what you want, but there is zero shortage of activities like: hiking, horseback riding, mountain activities (zip lines, hiking, alpine slides, etc.), lake activities (everything you can imagine), atv tours, ghost towns to explore, fishing, hot air ballooning, cherry picking … and the list goes on and on …. 🙂

Yes, I could see from your instagram you looked plenty busy and it sounds like I would be pooped! I have to tell you…tonight at our cookout my husband said we should go to Glacier National Park. (We have talked of taking our girls to a lot of the National Parks.) I have been talking to my family about Montana’s beauty lately. (Hmmm?) So my daughter says, “Montana, right?” and gives me a look. My husband replies, “Yes, so mama can go and follow in Mayhem’s footsteps.” I tell you, that daughter of yours is a household name. 🙂

Oh my gosh … that is too much!!! And that’s awesome that you’re considering some of the National Parks. We had only been to the Smoky Mountains (prior to this) and have always enjoyed exploring there (hiking etc.) but this took my appreciation for the parks to a completely new level. Now I want to see them ALL!!! 🙂 We’ll be sharing a lot more about our itinerary and what we did over the next couple weeks, but I can tell you that http://www.glaciermt.com is THE source for info to create an amazing trip there. They are fantastic people and know EVERYTHING about the area and can help you create the ideal trip for your family 🙂

I told my hubby that we should go there for our late honeymoon with our daughter who is only 9 months now, but when she gets a bit bigger we are going to be following your footsteps. It’s too gorgeous of a place not to visit. 🙂 we are from upstate New York and moved to Oklahoma because of military and I miss the scenery so much already. It’s only been 9 months.

I’m so glad you got to go enjoy my state! When I saw the picture of Mayhem at Big Dipper, I almost jumped in the car to run down there. Montana is unlike anywhere else. I love it.

Your pictures are beautiful! Did your family do any tent camping on your trip? I’ve heard that it is the best way to see Glacier but I am personally not much of a wilderness girl…

Thank you! We “glamped” which totally doesn’t count as camping 😉 Yes it was a tent, but it housed a king size bed with heated sheets and a real bathroom. More details to come on that, btw. I’m not much for real camping but I’m more than sold on glamping! Our other accommodations were hotels, lodges, etc. and everything was wonderful. Glacier is fantastic ANY way you can see it!!!

My husband and I visited Western Montana for our honeymoon last August! We loved it! It’s beautiful and the weather was perfect. We’re already counting down until we can go back, but in the winter! Can’t wait to ski Whitefish.

The weather was PERFECTION while we were there also!!! I’m sure Whitefish is spectacular in the snow – we rode to the summit and it’s AMAZING there. We hope to get back there too and the sooner the better 🙂

I’d never considered visiting Montana until I saw your pictures and IG posts. It’s beautiful out there! I was telling my husband about it, and now we may plan on going in the next couple years, once our baby is a bit older.

The beauty is really jaw dropping out there! I do hope you get to go and experience it as a family … there is SO much to do for everyone. Mayhem had so much fun and literally sobbed at the airport when it was time to come home.
