OK, so maybe it’s more like 36 hours, but the visit was short and thanks to the greatest tour guides of them all (Kristin and Scott from Camels & Chocolate), we hit some of the best spots in town.
We stayed at fabulous 3 bedroom rental in the Germantown neighborhood, which had an amazing selection of restaurants, all within walking distance. And, it was just a few minutes drive into ‘downtown’, which was perfect for us. Mayhem was especially fond of the yellow door π
The main event during our stay was our visit to The Grand Ole Opry and Mayhem getting a chance have a little chit chat with Lauren Alaina, but we hit the town for some fun and fun was definitely had!
Here are our top picks for family friendly fun in Nashville π
To Do:
Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park – great place to learn a little history of Tennessee, bonus points for fountains and having a fantastic farmers market adjacent!
Murals – Nashville has an impressive street art scene, so simply strolling through town yields opportunity after opportunity for perfectly Instagrammable moments.
The Goo-Goo Shop and Dessert Bar! Do NOT miss this! Mayhem had a chance to make her own custom Goo-Goo creation and their selection of treats is to die for π
Cumberland Park – after your fill at Goo-Goo, walk off some of those sweet treats by heading across the pedestrian bridge to Cumberland Park. Great views of the city and a plenty to keep the kids happy.
The Opryland Resort. You could spend an entire day or more just walking through this beautiful resort. Bonus: you don’t have to be staying there to go and enjoy the shops, atriums, and restaurants. AND … they have a boat ride inside! We loved the boat ride and catching dinner at the resort before heading over to The Opry House for the big show.
The Grand Ole Opry – Do yourself a favor, and see a show! Each show features an impressive line up of performers across a range of country music history.
Butchertown Hall -Mayhem opted for a cheeseburger the size of her head and loved it, and I highly recommend the veg tacos!
Biscuit Love!!! – We were told that Biscuit Love is a highly coveted Nashville gem and now we know why. Pro tip: do NOT miss the BONUTS!!! Also, the vegetarian grits were SO amazingly delicious, I still dream about them π
Cascades (at the Opryland Resort) – I had an amazing vegetarian quinoa dish, while Mayhem opted for yet another cheeseburger. We give two thumbs up to both!
The Red Bicycle Coffee & Crepes – OMG, the savory crepes at this place were so yummy! And the portions are HUGE … plan to share or endure the pain of overeating because you will NOT be able to stop yourself.
Clearly, that’s a lot of eating and doing in a 24-36 hour time frame, but when in Nashville, right?!
What did we miss? And what spots should we hit next time, because there WILL be a next time – can’t wait to see you again Nashville!
Ahhh, how did I miss this before? I’m going to have to write my own take on our two days together very soon. Such cute photos!
