Mayhem’s Guide to 24 Hours of Fun in Nashville

Posted on July 2, 2017August 2, 2017 By Angie Keiser
The hosts with the most – Thanks Scott & Kristin!

OK, so maybe it’s more like 36 hours, but the visit was short and thanks to the greatest tour guides of them all (Kristin and Scott from Camels & Chocolate), we hit some of the best spots in town.

We stayed at fabulous 3 bedroom rental in the Germantown neighborhood, which had an amazing selection of restaurants, all within walking distance. And, it was just a few minutes drive into ‘downtown’, which was perfect for us. Mayhem was especially fond of the yellow door 🙂

she was obsessed with that yellow door!

The main event during our stay was our visit to The Grand Ole Opry and Mayhem getting a chance have a little chit chat with Lauren Alaina, but we hit the town for some fun and fun was definitely had!

Here are our top picks for family friendly fun in Nashville 🙂

To Do:

Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park – great place to learn a little history of Tennessee, bonus points for fountains and having a fantastic farmers market adjacent!

she begged to run through those fountains, I begged her not too

Murals – Nashville has an impressive street art scene, so simply strolling through town yields opportunity after opportunity for perfectly Instagrammable moments.

I feel like we need to go back JUST for a mural tour!

The Goo-Goo Shop and Dessert Bar! Do NOT miss this! Mayhem had a chance to make her own custom Goo-Goo creation and their selection of treats is to die for 🙂

white chocolate chips, pretzels, and caramel = a winning combo!

Cumberland Park – after your fill at Goo-Goo, walk off some of those sweet treats by heading across the pedestrian bridge to Cumberland Park. Great views of the city and a plenty to keep the kids happy.

always a poser…

The Opryland Resort. You could spend an entire day or more just walking through this beautiful resort. Bonus: you don’t have to be staying there to go and enjoy the shops, atriums, and restaurants. AND … they have a boat ride inside! We loved the boat ride and catching dinner at the resort before heading over to The Opry House for the big show.

Mayhem always insists on twinning with Kristin whenever possible 🙂

The Grand Ole Opry – Do yourself a favor, and see a show! Each show features an impressive line up of performers across a range of country music history.

Where To Eat:

Butchertown Hall -Mayhem opted for a cheeseburger the size of her head and loved it, and I highly recommend the veg tacos!

as big as her head …

Biscuit Love!!! – We were told that Biscuit Love is a highly coveted Nashville gem and now we know why. Pro tip: do NOT miss the BONUTS!!! Also, the vegetarian grits were SO amazingly delicious, I still dream about them 🙂

yum!
these are bonuts. you NEED them in your life.

Cascades (at the Opryland Resort) – I had an amazing vegetarian quinoa dish, while Mayhem opted for yet another cheeseburger. We give two thumbs up to both!

look at my healthy option, ignore the kid in the background

The Red Bicycle Coffee & Crepes – OMG, the savory crepes at this place were so yummy! And the portions are HUGE … plan to share or endure the pain of overeating because you will NOT be able to stop yourself.

no photos of the crepes because we devoured them the second they arrived

Clearly, that’s a lot of eating and doing in a 24-36 hour time frame, but when in Nashville, right?!

What did we miss? And what spots should we hit next time, because there WILL be a next time – can’t wait to see you again Nashville!

Ahhh, how did I miss this before? I’m going to have to write my own take on our two days together very soon. Such cute photos!
