60 Hours of Texting With Mayhem

Posted on October 11, 2015 By Angie Keiser

Last week I took my first out of town trip without Mayhem. And I knew it would be difficult for both of us, but I underestimated how upset she’d be.

But that’s why we love our technology, right? We never have to lose touch.

Over the course of our 60 hours apart, Mayhem sent me (with the help of dictation for iPhone) approximately 300 text messages.

The text messages started immediately. As in, while I was working my way through security at the airport…
And they continued through the day.

With Keith jumping in to give me the low down…  The next morning I had an early message ….

And she kept the play by play running throughout the day…

And if I didn’t respond promptly, she let me know…
But the next morning, I sensed a shift in attitude…

As my late flight drew nearer, her excitement grew…
And when I jumped in the car at approximately 12:15am and leaned over to give her a squeeze, I found her completely passed out. As she should have been.

I squeezed her and smooched her anyway and when I told her I loved her, she opened her eyes and looked at me and smiled.

And drifted back off to sleep.

We survived. With a little help from unlimited texting 😉

So what you’re saying is that you’re already planning your second trip away from her very soon, is what I’m hearing.

    😉

I had to come back and read this again because it made me laugh so much. THOSE TEARS! Someone has her a career in acting 😉

My goodness what we wouldn’t do without technology and thank god for the kids who learn so quickly. My son would never manage with me gone from home for so long without it. I adore your stories and your photos. ????

Thank you so much! It’s amazing how they absolutely KNOW instinctively what to do with all of this technology – glad it’s helpful for you too 🙂

Oooops, didn’t get to finish! 🙂 I meant to add that when I first got an email account, I used like every emoticon available at every opportunity. 😛 Tell Mayhem I said hi! 🙂

So, how did Dad do handling her alone for so long? I notice it appears she’d got chocolate on her face in a few of those pics haha 😉 That first pic with the tear stained cheek is equal parts cute and sad though, but I like that she still says she loves you and never said she hates you for leaving 🙂

Oh my gosh! That is the CUTEST! I love those adorable pictures! You can tell by the snacks on her face that Dad treated her great in your absence 😉 xo
