We had big plans for today.
He has a million work projects, and there were a few things we wanted to do around the house.
So we got up early and started on the list.
By 11am we were ready for a power nap (figuring we’d be reenergized and ready to tackle the remainder of our list, after a little rest.)
I think we woke up sometime around 1pm.
Still tired.
He said, “I guess I better get out to the workshop.”
I knew he was still exhausted.
Having plenty of business is a good problem to have. But I’m also fairly certain he hasn’t not worked, any day, since our last vacation.
I reminded him, “It’s OK to rest.”
And with that, we let go of any other expectations we had for the day.
We loaded the whole fam (kid and dogs) into the truck and set out to enjoy the changing leaves.
We spent a few hours driving, enjoying some pretty perfect weather and peeping the leaves. We grabbed burgers at a drive-thru on the way home. And then, we lit a fire and watched movies.
A+ day.
Remind me to remind myself “it’s ok to rest” a little more often.
