Once upon a time. And also, yesterday.
Or so it feels.
Scoring a “kid cart” at the grocery store always felt like winning the lottery. Limited supply. Every kid wanted one.
And while I can see that they could be a bit of a liability (hello child ramming their cart into a display or other shopper), we always thought it was teachable opportunity. Sydney loved the responsibility of pushing the cart and learning to stack the groceries in a way that didn’t smash the bread or eggs. Not to mention, it was like a first driving lesson. You know – keeping your cart on your side of the aisle, waiting for other people to pass before turning out of your aisle, and not rear ending the person in front of you.
Not exactly the least stressful way to shop, but the joy it brought was palpable.
We haven’t seen a kid cart since our move south. Not here in Gee-or-gia, anyway.
Makes me wonder how they teach kids to drive, around here 😉
