I mentioned that the kid is sick.
She had a flu shot about three weeks ago, and today we discovered that she has the flu.
Fun stuff.
She’s always had a strong immune system and honestly, hasn’t dealt with very many infections in her time.
She’s also though, not entirely the best patient. Because in the past, when she would start feeling unwell, we’d suggest orange juice, noodle soup, and rest. And generally, she would refuse all three. Opting instead for as much activity as her body would handle and absolutely NO juice.
But this time was different.
She was falling asleep on the couch while watching movies, off and on throughout the day, and choosing to venture to her room for naps. But more importantly, she requested orange juice. And then proceeded to drink an entire 52 oz bottle in about seven hours.
And then she asked us to go back to the store for more.
She ate noodle soup, PER HER OWN REQUEST, late this evening.
She’s doing all the things we’ve asked her to do (for the past thirteen years) without us asking.
And that’s how I knew that she was utterly miserable.
Fingers crossed for good rest tonight and turning a corner tomorrow.
