So here’s the thing, we have a blog challenge going on for the month of February.
We’ve challenged ourselves to write a post per day.
Each.
With a nice little reward at the end of the challenge, IF we make it.
Lucky for me, I get reminders from my kid.
Lucky for you, this is your introduction to Sydney’s blog.
She’s deeply creative, with a fantastic imagination, and I wanted her to have her own little space online to share her work. So she chose a domain name and we set up a WordPress site for her to share some journal entries and short stories. And that was almost exactly two years ago.
TWO YEARS!
I haven’t shared her site before because I wanted her to figure out how to be comfortable with the space, without any outside pressure. Anytime you know other people are potentially reading your thoughts it puts a different layer of expectation on the writing. And it can often change what you write. Or how you write.
Especially when it comes to a daily challenge – that’s just an exercise in forcing yourself to show up everyday. Not necessarily the most creative or thoughtful work, but a discipline in getting something out there, each and every day. An exercise in not waiting on perfection before shipping it.
Good and go. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat.
But atp (see above 🙃), I feel like she’s ready.
I hope she continues to learn and grow with her blog. I hope she keeps exploring and searching for the voice that fits like a perfect pair of jeans.
But most of all, I hope she knows that this is a record that should evolve with her. A record of who she is at any given time. And that that person can, and should be striving to learn and grow and change.
ALL.THE.TIME.
And that I’ll always be here to cheer her on.
So go dig in, over at Mayhem’s Madness, and enjoy the evolution of the most creative person I’ve ever known.
